Balance of Principle and Process
I have received a bachelors of design from the University of Washington and since then process was ingrained into me from each class. It was a way of life, but through experience I learned it was only half the equation. Strong relationships with peers and cross team can excel a project forward beyond what process can do alone. Being accessible, inviting and willing to see other perspectives can quickly make a peer a UX supporter.
About Me
I was born and raised in Seattle and I couldn't think of a better place to live. Though I grew up as an artist I found most of my work unfulfilling. Art for the sake of art was something I couldn't bring myself to do. I enjoyed creating useful things, entertaining things, things that have the potential of benefiting people. I found that through design and choose to chase it down with a passion. I am the first in my family to graduate college.
I still am creative outside of work but I’ve expanded it to new mediums. From the traditional, I’ve done painting in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. I taken my abilities into 3D with casting, stone and clay molding. When technology comes into play, I have tried my hand in laser cutting and 3d printing. I even went so far to purchase my own 3d printer because I saw the potential of everyday use. Whatever medium, I am always up for a challenge.
If you get me talking, you’ll soon find out my other not so secret passions, Dungeons & Dragons and Magic, The Gathering. Meeting on a weekly basis, I’ll tell you tales of how our team fighter was able to wrestle down a flying dragon or how my character charismatically convinced a lord to fund our adventure rather than arrest us. On the other side, Magic, The Gathering is a card game I played since middle school. Filled with strategy and fun domino effects. Building the deck is my second favorite part, finding the loopholes and trick to keep you opponent on their toes. My first is watching my deck’s mechanics unfold seamlessly, leading to a crushing victory!
